New Jaguar F-Pace R-Dynamic Black on sale from £46,765

Fresh Jaguar F-Pace trim level features black styling tweaks and some extra standard equipment

Jaguar has added its generously equipped R-Dynamic Black specification to the F-Pace SUV line-up. It’s available to order now, priced from £46,765.

Like the F-Type and E-Pace R-Dynamic Black, this new Jaguar F-Pace gets a host of gloss black styling revisions and more standard equipment.

Upgrades include 20-inch alloys, a fixed panoramic roof, privacy glass and gloss black replacements for the car’s door mirror caps, radiator grille, brightwork, badges, roof rails and side vents. Jaguar has also fitted a set of red brake calipers to offset the new black wheels.

Inside, the F-Pace R-Dynamic Black features satin charcoal ash dashboard trim, bright metal pedals and a new 30-colour customisable ambient lighting system. Buyers also benefit from Jag’s latest Pivi Pro infotainment system, with an 11.4-inch curved-glass HD touchscreen.

Jaguar has also added a new Cabin Air Purification Plus system to the R-Dynamic Black model, which complements the F-Pace’s existing Air Ionisation filtration setup. It has two new settings, which the company says will make the F-Pace’s cabin air quality even better.

The first is called Air Purge. Essentially, it’s a pre-conditioning system, which engages the climate control’s fans and recirculation function to freshen the air in the cabin before the driver enters the vehicle. It can also be controlled using Jaguar’s smartphone app.

Jaguar’s second addition is a CO2 sensor, which monitors the amount of carbon dioxide in the interior and automatically filters it out if the levels are too high. There’s also a display for the touchscreen which shows the level of particulates inside and outside the car.

Elsewhere, Jaguar has introduced new self-sealing tyres, which can be specified as an optional extra. They feature a layer of sealant within the tyre cavity which, if an object punctures the tread, automatically seals the hole and allows the car to keep moving.

New Jaguar F-Pace R-Dynamic: engines, power and performance

F-Pace R-Dynamic Black buyers have a line-up of seven powertrains to choose from, which includes petrol and diesel 48-volt mild-hybrids, as well as a plug-in hybrid option. Every model also comes as standard with four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The cheapest model in the line-up is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder mild-hybrid diesel unit, with 161bhp. Above that, there’s a 202bhp version of the same engine, priced from £48,815.

The petrol range opens with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit, which develops 247bhp and costs £53,465. At the top of the range, there’s the plug-in hybrid P400e model, which mixes the same petrol engine with a 141bhp electric motor and a 17.1kWh battery.

Combined, it produces 398bhp and 640Nm of torque, which Jaguar says is enough for a 0-62mph time of 5.3 seconds. More importantly, the system will also return up to 128.4mpg on the WLTP combined cycle and has a maximum electric range of 33 miles. Prices for the PHEV in R-Dynamic Black specification start from £60,505.
